Igneous rocks are formed by the melting and solification of Metamorphic rock. Igneous Rocks are classified as intrusive (plutonic) or extrusive (volcanic). Igneous rocks are also either mafic or felsic. Mafic rocks are darker colored and more dense. Felsic rocks are lighter colored (with the omition of Obsidian) and less dense.
